Brian Casey <bcasey@hfx.eastlink.ca> Wed, Jan 13, 2016 at 7:29 PM I attach two documents explaining the procedure for the tryouts for Nova Scotia’s delegates. Remember that in addition to the three students selected by Nova Scotia, any student is entitled to apply directly to the national committee based on her debate resume. I have not yet received those application forms but I will forward them once I have them. The exact schedule for the tryouts depends on the number of students trying out (timing is different depending on whether we have 12, 15 or 18 students). Accordingly, I would ask you to indicate who is attending from your school by February 14th. There is no need to pay the fee ($20 per debater) in advance, but please let me know your students. I can then settle the schedule for the day. Given the exceptionally high standard of debate in Nova Scotia, this is an extremely competitive event. Spectators are welcome, and we would particularly invite grade 8 students who may be interested in trying out another year. We will put a small number of spectators to work as moderators and timers for the rounds. I have spoken to the National Committee and at least for this year, only students in grade 9-11 are eligible to tryout. Brian Casey |
