2016 MEGAN GILLIS INVTATIONAL DEBATE TOURNAMENT

Location: Middleton Regional High School is pleased to welcome you to the Megan Gillis Invitational Debate Tournament on Saturday, February 20^th.

Style: Two-person Parliamentary Impromptu with 6 minute speeches for each debater. Points of Information permitted (first and last minute protected time). The Prime Minister’s time will be divided between a 4 minute opening and a 2 minute official rebuttal.

Eligibility: If numbers permit, we will have a novice and advanced division. This will allow inexperienced senior debaters to compete in the novice category, if they wish. Likewise, more experienced junior high debaters may compete in the advanced division. There is no limit on the number of teams a school may bring.

Judges: We hope to provide enough judges for this event but we would ask that each school be prepared to provide at least one judge, if necessary.

Topics: We ask coaches to forward any possible topics for either division as soon as possible.

Cost: $25.00 per debater. Pizza will be provided for lunch. We ask that coaches confirm their teams by Thursday, February 18^th, if at all possible.

Schedule:

• Registration – 9am
• First Round – 10am
• Second Round – 11:15am
• Lunch – 12-12:45pm
• Third Round – 1pm
• Fourth Round – 2:15pm
• Semis and/or finals to be determined according to time constraints
• Our goal is to present awards no later than 6pm
