Attached is the second draft of tomorrow's draw.  Take a quick look, and send back any changes you know of.  We are ON - rain or shine, and please take care in your travels.  Arrival is set for between 9 and 9:30 - and round I will start at 10:00am

Information updates to me - as early as you have them - always appreciated.  Still looking for a senior team to balance the draw.  Juniors looks ok for now.

Thanks everyone, see you tomorrow.

Nick

subject:         ARMBRAE INVITATIONAL

Hello Debate Coaching Colleagues:

On Saturday January 30th Armbrae Academy will be hosting its first ever invitational tournament, for debaters in grades 6 to 11.  I have attached materials that outline the draft schedule for the day, the format guidelines and suggested speaking times for each division.

Here are some of the key points:
  • Saturday Jan 30th - register by 9:30 - nice lunch provided, awards at 3:30
  • 4 rounds, Canadian Parliamentary style, 2 prepared, 2 impromptu
  • registration fee: $25.00 per team of 2
  • 2 divisions:  GRADE 6 - 8 and GRADE 9 - 11
  • experienced GRADE 12-s welcome as judges
For the morning rounds; both divisions will be debating the following topic:

This house believes that developed countries have a higher obligation to combat climate change than developing countries
<http://idebate.org/debatabase/climate-change>

The URL linked to this resolution should give all debaters a running start on furthering their understanding of climate change, as well as a basic set of starter-points for the pro and con side of this topic.

TO REGISTER - simply reply to this email by Friday January 22 with:

DEBATER NAMES; first / last - in assigned teams of 2
DEBATER GRADE; ensuring junior or senior division is clear
JUDGE NAMES; first / last - ensuring at least 2 per visiting school

That's right - just bring along 2 judges, and and your kids.  It will be a great day.

Again - additional information attached.

I look forward to welcoming you all to Armbrae.

Sincerely,

Nick Szymanis
