New website launched

We've launched a new website, social media profiles, and more. Here are some notes about the new setup:

Google Apps: Everything is built around our free Google Apps for Nonprofits account. Access to view/edit content can be given to anyone's Google Account, so most won't have to sign up for anything new.

Website: This website is running on Google Sites, which was chosen because it's very simple to use. Contributors can add and edit content easily, and future site administrators can take things over with a minimal learning curve.

Listserv: No more copying and pasting a long list of emails whenever contacting the membership. Members will be able to email members@debatingsociety.ca and reach the whole group. I'll send the membership an email in a couple of days to launch this service. Complete details of our new Google Groups listserv are available on the Members > Email Listserv page.

Social Media: follow @NSDebate on Twitter, "Like" our Facebook Page, and follow our Google+ Page

Photos: Check out our new album on Google Photos. Upload your debating event photos on our Photos page. If we've posted a photo of you and you'd like it changed or taken down, see the Photo Consent Contact Form.

Schedule: Now and forever, you can find an always up-to-date events schedule on our site. You can also subscribe to the calendar, adding it to your own calendaring program. All tournament invitations will be posted at Events > Invitations, so you won't have to dig up that old announcement email.

Site content: all of the Materials from the old site are still here, and more will be added over time. There's some now content up under the About section. Tournament results that were saved on a separate Google Site are now compiled and organized on this site under Events > Results.

Email: The Society's official email address is now ns@debatingsociety.ca. The old address, nsdebate@eastlink.ca, remains active and forwards to the new address. We can add other "@debatingsociety.ca" email accounts as needed to act as aliases/forwards or as full accounts with their own Gmail inbox

Technical stuff: TechSoup Canada has verified our non-profit status, giving us free access to various products and services including our new Google Apps for Nonprofits account. Details of all our new accounts can be found on the Admin page (link at very bottom of left sidebar).

If you have any questions or feedback, please get in touch.
